Easy living in Ii
A place where three rivers meet the Gulf of Bothnia
Ii is a Finnish municipality. Although the name Ii has only two characters, it holds a lot of potential and possibilities. Ii is a beautiful borough by the sea estuary.
Industrial tradition of Ii goes back centuries. Finland's third Glasswork Factory ever, was founded in Ii Olhava in 1782, and Ii Kestilä Sawmill was founded in 1852 in Ii.
Administrative borough of Ii was formed in 1445. In those days greater Ii consisted, in addition to Ii, also of Haukipudas, Kiiminki, Yli-Ii, Yli-Kiiminki, Kuivaniemi, Pudasjärvi, Simo, Taivalkoski and Ranua.
Ii is also a traditional trading centre. Ii Hamina was granted stable rights, also known as market rights, as early as in the 1200 century. Market right is a legal term originating from the medieval period.
