Industry for centuries

Ii Valley has in recent years, developed significantly. In Ii Municipality, where Ii Valley is situated, population has grown for decades. In fact, the municipality has grown steadily and Ii has been Finland's northernmost local authority increasing the population systematically.

Today over 9 000 people inhabit the borough.

The business sector is active. Companies are located in different parts of the borough; urban areas, built-up area or in Ii Valley concentration, which is an absorption of 60 companies, employing approximately 500 people. Most of Ii Valley companies offer industrial and manufacturing-related services.

Technology centre Micropolis is also in the heart of Ii Valley. Micropolis facilities are intended for high technology business sector. Technology centre is equipped well for business operation, it has diverse production, test, clean room and the office space for hiring.

Strong legacy
Local industrial tradition is centuries elongated. Finland's third glassworks was founded in the area in 1782, and Kestilä Sawmill was founded in 1852 being Finland's first steam sawmill. The big boost took place in early 80´s, when several industrial enterprises started in Ii Valley.

Currently Ii Valley is home for micro-electronics, engineering, wood industry, environmental technology, energy production, rubber and plastics industry, packaging industry, fine mechanics and metal companies as well as their suppliers and partners.
